Helping Support Small Businesses
The North West Cyber Resilience Centre provides a range of services and memberships aimed at supporting small businesses and SMEs based in the North West.
Our mission is to work in partnership with small businesses and SMEs to grow and strengthen your resilience to online crime and cyber attacks. Supported by Greater Manchester Police, we are a trusted place to turn to for expert help, guidance and support.
If you’re a new startup or an established, growing business, we can educate you to strengthen your resilience against cyber attacks. We work closely alongside every SME to ensure we fully understand their business needs and can tailor our membership or services to not only fit in with the way your company works but also fit within your budget.
Many small to medium-sized businesses wrongly assume that they do not need cybersecurity help because they outsource their IT support.
When was the last time your IT company trained your staff in cybersecurity awareness or highlighted the latest tactics being used by cybercriminals to target businesses?
Cyber-attacks affect businesses of all sizes across the UK - from micro and small, to medium and large.
Attacks have become more frequent, with 32% of those that identified breaches or attacks now experiencing them at least once a week.
Cybercrime is estimated to cost the Greater Manchester economy £860 million per year.
Top 3 Threats
01 / PHISHING
Phishing involves criminals sending un-targeted, mass emails to many people asking for sensitive information (such as bank details) or encouraging them to visit a fake website.
02 / IMPERSONATION
Impersonation can include
fraudsters pretending to be your business by hijacking your invoices and contacting your customers in order for them to be paid instead of you.
03 / MALWARE
Malware (including Ransomware) is malicious software that can damage your network or make your systems unusable until you
make a payment to the cyber criminals.
HOW WE CAN HELP
01 / AWARENESS TRAINING
We can train your staff to be your strongest defence against phishing attacks by equipping them with the information they need to identify, report and stop any attempts before any damage can be done.
We can search the web for any freely available information out there about you or your business which could be gathered by criminals in an impersonation attempt against your customers.
We can assess your network by scanning for known vulnerabilities that may give access to attackers and provide you with recommendations on how to mitigate the risk of an attack.
