November Student Chapter Event Launched - Taking the first steps in your Cyber Security career

Our next Cyber Student Chapter event has been announced as part of a regular calendar of events for any student studying cybersecurity in the North West.


This new event; 'Taking the first steps in your Cyber Security career' will feature several speakers who will be explaining their first-hand experience of working within the Cyber Security sector.

With over 150 students already registered as part of the North West Student Chapter, this is an opportunity to be part of a growing community of cybersecurity enthusiasts. This event takes place on Thursday 25th November, each speaker will be sharing their first-hand experience of working within Cyber Security and what their role entails.


This event will feature four main speakers taking to the stage. Robert Hegarty (Innovation Engineer - Nation Management Centre (NMC)/ BT), Paul Taylor (Training Manager, EMEA at Chainalysis), Phil Larratt (UK Operations Manager, Chainalysis) and Sara Ward (SOC Analyst, National Management Centre (NMC)/BT).

18:00 - Introduction, MJ

18:05 - Rob Hegarty - NMC overview / Mitre visualisation. Mitre attack, the adversary of framework demonstrates attack techniques by attackers.

18:25 - Sara Ward - Will share her experience as a graduate SOC analyst, now working for NMC/BT.

18:45 - Paul Taylor - Cryptocurrency Trends, About Chainalysis, Technology, Industry Research.

19:05 - Phil Larratt - Careers within the National Crime Agency and how he found his way to Chainalysis.

19:25 - Q&A session
