Life After University: A Cyber Student Chapter Event

We delivered our sixth North West Cyber Student Chapter event in March - "Life After University: A Cyber Student Chapter Event". This latest event brought together over 100 students from universities across the North West region for a hybrid event.

This latest event allowed students to hear from industry professionals, including Ian Peers, Director of Cyber Security at CGI, Janet Coulthurst, Chief of staff and Alex O'Brien from 6Point6. The event was closed by John Davidson, Business Conduct Co-Ordinator from Northrop Grumman.

Feedback from Attendees

"Fantastic range of speakers with different experiences and roles"
"All of the speakers were very open to talking to us and wanted to give us the best advice they could."
"I particularly appreciated the practical tips and advice that they shared, such as how to build a strong network, how to keep up with the latest developments in cybersecurity, and how to prepare for job interviews."

The evening began with an introduction from Andrew Snowden, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Lancashire. Each speaker then discussed their career path to date, what it's like for women working in tech, how they got their first break into the world of cyber security and offered vital insight into the most in-demand skills.

This event was voted excellent by 86% of attendees, with 100% of attendees saying they would recommend the Cyber Student Chapter events to a fellow student.

A special thank you to our speakers who made this event possible. Thanks to Bruntwood, Crest and Steven Cockcroft for supporting us with the prizes, food and event space.
