Cyber security has never been more important to small businesses. Recent cyber attacks on large retailers such as M&S have shown just how difficult it is to get your business back on track.
While M&S has access to large amounts of finance in order to recover, a small regional business could be forced to completely close down if they cannot trade or access their data.
To help support businesses and organisations across the North West, we are currently offering 15% off our services throughout July to help increase their cyber resilience.
This offer is open to all types of businesses, charities and not-for-profit organisations and public sector bodies such as housing, healthcare and schools.
It’s important to stress that these cyber security sessions have been specially designed for people without any technical knowledge to help them spot potential cyber threats. The sessions allow our cyber security consultants to work with your organisation to locate any weaknesses or vulnerabilities that could be exploited.
Creating a culture of cyber resilience in your business is the best way to defend against attacks.
Niomie Haynes, commercial manager at the NWCRC, said:
“It's not too late to start thinking about cyber hygiene in your business. We understand the challenges many businesses face and we are here to help. We have discounted services in light of the recent retail cyber attacks to support supply chains to build resilience, so they can continue doing what they do to keep things running. For those looking to obtain certifications like Cyber Essentials, our Cyber Risk Assessment is a great way to review overall posture and prioritise next steps.”
DI Dan Giannasi, heads up the team at the North West Cyber Resilience Centre, and said:
“It’s vital that businesses owners and employees understand how cyber breaches and cyber attacks happen and the most important steps they can take to reduce their risk of attack. Our low-cost services are the best way for a small organisation to begin to improve their cyber security.”
Why do we offer low-cost services?
As we are a not-for-profit organisation, which is backed by the regional police forces and the Home Office, we can offer low cost cyber security services. Additionally we also employ cyber security students to run some of our services, which enables them to get vital work experience in a professional setting. Our students are given lots of guidance, support and training and it’s amazing to watch their confidence grow over time while delivering training.
What services do we offer?
Security Awareness Training
Security Awareness Training provides a simple and practical knowledge session for employees to understand cyber security and gain the confidence to challenge something that doesn’t look right. Training covers: password security; software updates; social media and social engineering; phishing; ransomware; remote working and cyber security policies.
Simulated Phishing Exercise
A simulated phishing exercise helps to raise your staff's awareness of phishing emails and guards your business against the growing trend of social-engineering threats. By training your employees on what a phishing attack looks like, they are more likely to identify and report scams.
Website Vulnerability Assessment
A Website Vulnerability Assessment tests your IT system configuration using the same techniques hackers use to ensure your company is not open to cyber attacks.
Our cyber security consultants follow an industry-standard testing methodology that evaluates your website against the top 10 most common attacks (OWASP Testing Methodology).
Network Vulnerability Assessment
The Cyber Resilience Centre offers two types of Network Vulnerability Assessment; Remote and Internal. The Remote Network Vulnerability Assessment uses the same toolsets and skill sets that hackers use to map your organisation's internet connections. The Internal Network Vulnerability Assessment will scan and review your internal networks and systems, looking for weaknesses such as poorly maintained or designed systems, out-of-date services, insecure access controls, or opportunities to access and steal sensitive data.
This service also benefits from regional Police and National Cyber Security Centre intelligence to capture the latest known threats and techniques cybercriminals use.
Digital Footprint Assessment
This service is focused on comprehensively reviewing publicly available information about an organisation. Cyber criminals may also use the information gained from this type of activity during the early preparation stages of a cyber-attack. It will also help you to understand if a poor online security posture makes the organisation attractive to cybercriminals in much the same way a burglar walks down a road looking for intruder alarms, open windows and unlocked gates.
Cyber Risk Exposure Assessment
A Cyber Risk Exposure Assessment comprehensively evaluates your organisation's cyber security posture. Our primary goal is identifying and quantifying potential cyber risks and vulnerabilities that could threaten your organisation's information systems, data and operations.A Cyber Risk Exposure Assessment comprehensively evaluates your organisation's cyber security posture.
