New Cyber Security Protection Announced for Small Businesses in the North West

To aid small businesses, SMEs, and freelancers working in the North West, we’ve launched a dedicated area of cyber resources, guidance and useful links to help businesses who want to learn how to protect their business and start their journey to become cyber resilient.

32% of Small Businesses have experienced Cyber Attacks in the last year.

Many small to medium-sized businesses wrongly assume they do not need cybersecurity help because they outsource their IT support. When the Cyber Resilience Centre and your managed IT provider can work together to ensure your staff receive security awareness training, your data is backed up regularly, and any vulnerabilities are found and secured.

A survey by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in 2023 found around 32% of businesses fell victim to a cybersecurity breach or cyber attack in the past 12 months.
 The average annual cost of cyber crime for businesses is estimated at £15,300.

The same DCMS report showed that just 15% of micro and small businesses had offered training to their staff.
