The Greater Manchester Student Chapter Launches 'Capture The Flag' Event
The GM Cyber Student Chapter is excited to announce their next event; ‘Capture The Flag’ which takes place on Saturday 19th December at 11:00 am.
Join students from three universities across the North West (Salford University, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester) who will be attending this CTF event.
What is Capture the Flag?
Capture the Flag (CTF) is a fun, engaging cybersecurity exercise where you can get together with fellow students to solve problems and win prizes. This CTF event is sponsored by Try Hack Me and includes activities (beginner to intermediate) in pen testing, forensics and website hacking.
You can access the Try Hack Me platform from the comfort of your desk at home and enjoy a few hours of hacking exercises with loads of learning material. The Try Hack Me platform has educational material and hints that you can use to solve given puzzles and recover the flag.
This event will take place over 3-4 hours, feel free to group up with your friends and join the CTF event as a team. Remember that CTF events are unique activities, so make the most of this event.
What do I win?
TryHackMe has kindly offered the top three hackers with the most points receive a free subscription to TryHackMe and the top hacker with the most points will win a $50 Amazon gift card.
What is Try Hack Me?
TryHackMe is an online platform that teaches cybersecurity through short, gamified real-world labs. We have content for both complete beginners and seasoned hackers, incorporating guides and challenges to cater for different learning styles.
What do you need to join this event?
Load up your PC or Laptop, Internet connection and a quiet room.
Create an account with Try Hack Me and connect to the network through an OpenVPN configuration file or use a browser-based machine.
