The NCSC Guidance for moving your Business from the Physical to the Digital

Updated: Feb 21, 2023

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has released further guidance which will help you determine how ready your business is for a digital transition. It will also point out the way to which cybersecurity measures you should be putting in place.

For sole traders and small business owners, establishing what new cybersecurity measures you need to put in place can seem like quite a daunting challenge. Not to mention that COVID-19 has seen many businesses having to shut their physical premises and move their operations online. Internet shopping and home working have, become the norm for many of us since the start of the first lockdown in March 2020.

New NCSC Guidance to move your operations online is here

The NCSC has provided a set of questions which you can ask yourself, and your IT service providers about the security of the systems you rely on. This then signposts advice which you can use to do your research and inform any discussions you have with your suppliers.

Answering these questions will give you a good idea of your security status and point the way towards areas needing attention.

  • What technology do you use already?

  • Are you using cloud services?

  • Do you have access to IT Support?

  • What cybersecurity measures do you have in place?

  • Are there any regulations you need to follow?
